The annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K was held at Salem Baptist Park in McDonough Georgia. The race course took the runners through the park with a short stretch on a nearby public street. The sun was shining but it was a cold and windy day by Georgia standards.
As the runners approached the finish line banner, their facial expressions told the story, the weather made the race tougher than normal. Most runners appeared exhausted while raising their hands to acknowledge their personal accomplishment.
A number of the participants expressed their St. Patrick’s pride by wearing various shades of green, or dressing in costume. Even a couple of dogs that ran along side their owners were adorned in green. My favorite was a little poodle named “bella” who had a spiked hair style, due to the wind, for the St. Patrick’s Day 5k.
